UNJustice message

At a time when the United Nations is playing a decisive role in coping with world problems which affect the lives of millions of people, fair play - a combination of observance of the rules, respect for the defenceless, and prevention of adverse behaviour - is the condition under which human cooperation becomes both possible and necessary.

With a view to this, to help these essential features cross the arbitrary and artificial barriers to realize the UN's potential as a positive force in the world, UNJustice devotes itself to no other task with more dedication than to the very task it got its name from: encouraging fair play in the United Nations system of administration of justice.

The momentous year when a new justice system at the U.N. was introduced ends with a certainty: we cannot go on this way

8 January 2010

The end of the year which saw the introduction of a new internal justice system at the United Nations after six decades is a chance to reflect on the abuses we have witnessed –and how much more needs to be done to end them.

Confidence in the UN justice system is still low among victims and the public.

Humanly, legally, ethically, financially, logically and historically we have a lot to look forward to in 2010.

To show our commitment to a fair system of administration of justice at the UN, we have also sent our numbered holiday season cards this year.

UNJustice’s message could not have been more eloquent: Do the right thing.

This is not just an invitation to renew the hope that the United Nations internal justice system will recognize and respect its legal obligation to promote compliance with international human rights standards. Most of all, this is a tribute to those persons under the jurisdiction of the UN who fear that the world might forget about their problems.

Stop the UNJustice clock!

Today, the United Nations is celebrating without the provision of a system of administration of justice that promotes compliance with human rights norms. To make the United Nations' work a true manifestation of culture and humanness, the United Nations needs a fundamentally new system of justice.

It is only fair to stop the UNJustice clock now.
