UNJustice message

At a time when the United Nations is playing a decisive role in coping with world problems which affect the lives of millions of people, fair play - a combination of observance of the rules, respect for the defenceless, and prevention of adverse behaviour - is the condition under which human cooperation becomes both possible and necessary.

With a view to this, to help these essential features cross the arbitrary and artificial barriers to realize the UN's potential as a positive force in the world, UNJustice devotes itself to no other task with more dedication than to the very task it got its name from: encouraging fair play in the United Nations system of administration of justice.

   Request assistance

There is a broad understanding that the current "slow, cumbersome, ineffective and lacking in professionalism United Nations system of administration of justice" needs a serious overhaul.

UNJustice believes that a good starting point for promoting a proper administration of justice in the UN is to comprehend and reveal the extent of its unjustness. UNJustice also highlights the need for redress and reconciliation to come to terms with past violations.

For these reasons, if you are a staff member of the Secretariat of the United Nations, of one of its Funds, Programmes and Specialized Agencies, or a person (including any individual, partnership, corporate body, unincorporated organization, trustee, executor, administrator or other legal representative) who believes in good faith to be entitled to rights under any terms of appointment, contract or the provision of any applicable national and international law, including the International Bill of Human Rights*, you can report a case to our attention**. We ensure you that your confidentiality will be respected.

To do so, please download our Appeal for Action Questionnaire [DOC-88 KB], complete it, and return it by mailing to urgent-action@unjustice.org.

In addition, any party may consult with UNJustice regarding a UN administrative or managerial decision which may relate to a human rights or equity issue.

Our policy for offering assistance reflects our responsibility as a defender of human rights to protect and support the victims and provide the fullest consideration and discussion of grievances based on the accurate and impartial reporting of facts.

UNJustice discharges its humanitarian functions by issuing appeals and sending letters  to the appropriate authorities in order to bring these cases to their attention or obtain clarification. In all matters brought to its attention, UNJustice aims to reach prompt and fair solutions in a spirit of respect and collaboration.

Because our work is voluntary, all our services are provided pro bono (free of charge).

77 persons have been assisted by UNJustice so far.

Stop the UNJustice clock!

Today, the United Nations is celebrating without the provision of a system of administration of justice that promotes compliance with human rights norms. To make the United Nations' work a true manifestation of culture and humanness, the United Nations needs a fundamentally new system of justice.

It is only fair to stop the UNJustice clock now.
