UNJustice message
|
|
At a time when the United Nations is playing a decisive role in
coping with world problems which affect the lives of millions of
people,
fair play
-
a combination of observance of the rules,
respect for the
defenceless,
and
prevention of adverse behaviour -
is
the
condition under which human
cooperation
becomes
both possible and necessary.
With a view to this,
to
help these essential features
cross
the
arbitrary and artificial barriers
to realize the UN's potential as a
positive force in the world,
UNJustice
devotes
itself to
no other
task with more dedication than to the very task it got its name
from:
encouraging
fair play in the United Nations system of administration of
justice.

| UNJustice
project
UNJustice is an
independent member of the civil and human rights community. It is
a non-profit, non-governmental, non-partisan and voluntary
committee which is
organized on an international level to campaign for an
effectively fair and equitable administration of
justice in the
United Nations system of organizations. The work of the
Committee is coordinated by a Secretariat which provides the
advisory and
operational support that enables UNJustice to fulfil its mission.
Concerned with the
processes and outcomes of the flawed United Nations
internal justice system, and given the Organization's juridical
immunity, UNJustice will
therefore have an innovative role in fostering the
ideals of fair play within the United Nations system
of administration of justice.
In particular,
UNJustice is engaged in efforts to ensure and strengthen
compliance of the United Nations internal justice system with
standards acceptable under international law, including human rights
instruments
recognized by the international community.
In order to achieve
these goals, UNJustice:
-
Brings together, on a common platform, groups and
individuals
convinced that a system of administration of
justice which acts in
accordance with the principles of justice and fair play,
that
are stated in the UN Charter,
is at the heart of, and thus responsible, for the success of the United Nations.
